The Caddo National Grasslands are located near Lake Bonham in Fannin County, Texas. The grasslands consist of two different areas in the north-east and the south-east. Caddo National Grasslands is a must-see place near Lake Bonham you and your family will enjoy!
Developed Recreational Areas
Caddo National Grasslands consists of over seventeen thousand acres of land. The two sections of the grasslands are the Bois d’ Arc and Ladonia unit. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department manages the hunting opportunities of the area with permits.
Bois d’ Arc Creek Unit
The Bois d’ Arc Creek Unit is more diversified as compared to the Ladonia Unit. Two lakes and four streams exist in this section of land. Hunting of deer, squirrels, and waterfowl are offered.
This area of Caddo National Grasslands includes habitation of frogs, dove, game birds, rabbits, hogs, and more. Fishing opportunities are located nearby to have access to catfish, perch, bass, and crappie.
Hunting Applications
Registration is required before hunting in the Caddo National Grasslands area. Rules and regulations should be followed during your visit. All hunters must wear orange attire during the daytime hours. For more info on guidelines and regulations, please visit the Texas Parks & Wildlife website.
Year-Round Operations
Under normal circumstances, the Caddo National Grasslands are open to the public year-round. When scheduling your visit to the area, please be sure to contact the facility before leaving to ensure operational hours have not changed.
Area Campgrounds
Campgrounds are offered in the area all year round during normal circumstances. Camping areas include nearby restrooms and drinking fountains.
Boat ramps allow putting your boats into the water with ease. Some areas include wheel-chair accessible facilities.
